Following her successful appointment as a full-time member of the Vectis Housing team, the Isle of Wight College placed an advert in the County Press that celebrated the effectiveness of their apprentice scheme for young people seeking a career.  Robyn started at VHA as a work experience trainee and has proved her worth and been rewarded with a permanent job.  We are delighted to have supported the Island community in this way and nurtured a valuable member of our staff.

Robyn's experience:

I joined Vectis Housing Association as an apprentice in 2015 with very limited experience in customer service or working in a real world environment.

Although I initially found it stressful, the support I received from both the IW College, my managers and colleagues at Vectis smoothed the process, and made me realise my potential.  I successfully completed the Customer Service Level 2 course and was offered the opportunity to progress my development onward with a Level 3 Business Administration course.

I decided to take this on, and have made a great start, learning a lot in the process.  I have just been offered a permanent position at Vectis, and feel the choices I have made have really kick-started my career, giving me focus and the ability to lead the lifestyle I choose.
